University & Career Counselling
University & Career Counselling
We recommend that students find the university that best fits their individual needs and goals.
Many students think there is only one university that is right for them - only one place where they will be happy and successful. This is not the case! There are many universities that would be a good fit for each student. That is why ICS has its own University Counselling service to guide students who are preparing university applications.
We know that selecting the best universities/courses is a very important task. With so many to choose from, it can be bewildering at first. But approached in the right way, this task can also be very exciting and rewarding.
- To help, we have created the ICS University Handbook. This offers students from Grades 9-12 information on everything from first thinking about your future to picking the right courses to taking the exams university admissions departments might ask for.
- We have also compiled the Worldwide Study Information page. This lists admissions contacts and requirements for universities around the world.

Internships
Internships are an important part of a student’s academic journey. An internship can provide clarity regarding what a certain job entails, confirmation that a career choice is a good fit, and help with choosing IB subjects and university selection offers. Internships also reflect well on a student in their university applications and sometimes a successful internship can lead to a permanent job after university.
The ICS community extends into every sector of the Zurich economy, including architecture, banking, research, and human relations. This offers students unparalleled access into high profile businesses and institutions. Students in Grades 10 to 12 have the opportunity to take up summer internships with selected businesses that have opened their doors to the ICS community.
Internship opportunities vary each year and are advertised within school. Students are asked to submit a formal application and to come for an interview as part of internship learning experience.
