Last weekend ICS hosted eight schools, all members the Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS), at the Cross Country Running SGIS Championships.
The Swiss Group of International Schools provides opportunities for sports teams from all SGIS member schools to compete against each other. Hosted by ICS, the SGIS Primary, Middle School and High School Cross Country Championships took place on Saturday 28 September.
A total of 238 runners, 142 boys and 96 girls, from 8 schools participated in the event, with 34 teachers and parent volunteers on hand to make sure things ran smoothly. The runners competed in six categories (A – F) according to their year of birth and the total running distance. Category A and B were made up of the U19s and U16s, who had 5.7 km to cover. The U14s and U12s in Category C and D ran 3.9 km, and the youngest runners, the U11s and U9s in Category E and F, ran a total of 2.2 km.
63 runners from ICS competed and they did very well, collecting 6 individual medals (two 1st, one 2nd and two 3rd place finishes), 23 top 10 finishes (including 11 top 5 finishes) and 6 team trophies (two 1st, three 2nd and one 3rd place trophy).
The top ICS results were as follows: Category B - Siara H in 3rd place and Joseph S 4th; Category C - Hudson B 4th, ICS Boys' team 3rd; Category D - Giulio M 3rd, ICS Boys' team 2nd; Category E - Maggie M 1st, Wille J 1st, Henry S 2nd, Daniel P-H 3rd and the ICS Boys' Team took 1st place and our ICS Girls' Team placed 2nd. The results for our youngest runners, in Category F, are equally impressive: Jack M 4th, Neela B 4th, and both ICS Boys' and Girls' Teams in Category F in 1st place!
Sincere congratulations to all our ICS runners on their excellent results at the Cross Country Running SGIS Championships!
