ICS has every reason to be pleased with the results of last Saturday's SGIS Cross Country Championships!
Over 300 Athletes competed across 5 categories as ICS hosted the Swiss Group of International Schools (SGIS) Cross Country Championships on Saturday 29 September. SGIS is an organization of International Schools in Switzerland with over 40 schools competing in various tournaments organized by the SGIS Athletics Committee throughout the year in six age categories ranging from Primary to High School.
The SGIS Cross Country Championships took place under excellent weather conditions – blue skies and perfect temperatures for runners! An impressive team of ICS staff and school community volunteers also contributed significantly to making this year's event so memorable.
With Primary students running a 2.2 km course, Middle School at 3.9 km, and High School completing 5.7 km, the ICS Lower Primary Boys' team came in 1st place in their category, with Henry S winning his race. The Lower Primary Girls finished 2nd, as did our Upper Primary Boys, and ICS Upper Primary Girls finished 3rd.
Both the ICS JV Boys' and the JV Girls' Teams came in 2nd, with Ana B finishing 2nd over 3.9 km. Over 5.7 km, ICS High School Boys finished 2nd and Isabella M came in 2nd in her category over 5.7 km as well.
The SGIS Cross Country Championship is a signature event for SGIS member schools each year, and the positive atmosphere of the meet is enhanced by the cheering support for the athletes from coaches and enthusiastic spectators. In past years, the meet has been extremely rewarding for all the student athletes involved, and this year's SGIS Cross Country Championships proved to be no exception.
