Fall Sports Awards Honour ICS Secondary Athletes

The ICS Secondary Sports Awards for the 2017 fall season took place on 22 November honouring teams and athletes who have achieved outstanding results at tournaments and meets.

Our cross country team had strong performances at all of their meets, starting with the Greifenseelauf where they came home with 4 top 10 finishes. They continued with TASIS Invitational, where they had an excellent showing with the boys' team capturing 4 of the top 5 spots and coming home as boys' team champions, and our girls coming in 2nd place in girls' team category. At the ICS hosted SGIS X-Country Championships in September, our team captured 2 team championships and 3 2nd place team finishes. The season ended with the ISSL X-C Championships at TASIS, where both the MS boys' and girls' teams came home as the ISSL champions, with the boys taking 5 of the top 7 spots and the girls with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishes.

The Varsity Boys and Girls Soccer teams both came home with 2nd place finishes in a strong league. Both teams also travelled to the season's final ESSL competition in Eindhoven, taking part in a new sports conference for Varsity Boys' and Girls' Soccer and Basketball, which ended with our girls' team bringing home the 2nd place trophy.

In MS Boys' Soccer, both the A and B teams played solidly throughout the season. The B team went to the ISSL cluster placing 2nd in a tightly contested tournament. The A team capped their season at the SCIS tournament in Zug coming out 4th out of 11 teams.

The MS Girls' Soccer season was fantastic. Both the A and the B teams played incredible soccer throughout the season, not losing a single game, and both teams finished the ISSL cluster as ISSL Champions! Our MS A team also finished as SGIS champions at the SGIS tournament in Lausanne!

Last, but certainly not least, our fabulous MS Tennis team ended the season winning all but one of their friendly matches. In the ISSL cluster tournament they dominated their opponents and came home as the boys', girls' and overall team champions! At the SCIS Championships, hosted by ICS, the teams all played inspired tennis and the tournament ended with ICS as the Girls' team and Overall Team Champions! In recognition of their team spirit and fair play on the court, the ICS tennis team were awarded the Sportsmanship Award by the players and coaches.

We are extremely proud of our athletes' strong performances throughout the entire fall season. We applaud them and their coaches for the impressive accomplishments and outstanding results they achieved on the field and on the court. We join parents and the entire ICS community in congratulating all our athletes and teams on a job well done!
