With ICS hosting the SGIS Cross-Country Championships for the fourth year in a row, our athletes completed a very busy sports weekend!
The ISSL cluster tournaments for all soccer and volleyball teams and the SGIS Cross-Country Championships were held on Friday and Saturday throughout Zurich and Zug. 12 schools and 273 runners from Grade 2 to 12 participated.
ICS athletes performed very well, taking home 18 top 10 finishes and six top three finishes (3- 2nd; 3-3rd place) in 12 race categories. ICS also brought home five, top 2 team finishes, finishing 1st in two categories and 2nd in an additional three categories. Well done to our athletes and coaches and a big thank you to the ICS staff, students and parents!
All of our Soccer teams were involved with the ISSL clusters, either on Friday or Saturday, and our teams came back with many successful finishes. Our MS Girls' A+B Soccer teams went to ZIS and played great soccer: the A-Team won both of their games and the B team won two and tied one, which allowed both teams to come home with 1st place finishes and the Championship plaques!
The Varsity Girls' Soccer team travelled to Zug on Friday and played strong soccer with one win and two ties, which resulted in ICS taking 2nd place in a very close three team race with ZIS and ISZL. Over the weekend, the ICS Varsity Boys' hosted their soccer tournament, winning two and losing one, to end up 2nd in the ISSL. The MS Boys' B Soccer team also had a very good day with two wins and one loss for a strong 2nd place finish.
We congratulate all our athletes and coaches on their successes and for representing ICS so well!
