The Autumn Sports season has started and our teams have already had great results!
Entering their first competition at the Griefenseelauf in September, our MS/HS Cross-Country team had a good start with 4 top 10 finishes. Well done to all the athletes!
Last weekend the Cross-Country runners travelled to Lugano to compete in the TASIS Invitational, and the team's excellent performance was capped by Theo M's course record, first place time in the MS boys' race! Isabella McG-B took first place in the HS girls' race - another excellent result! The MS boys' team came in first in the team standings in Lugano, taking 4 of the first 5 places in the race: Theo M – 1st; 3rd -Kyle T; Filippo W 4th and Joseph S – 5th. The MS girls also performed well, taking 2nd (Solenn M) and 4th place (Anusha K) in the girls' race.
The ICS Primary Cross-Country team went to Bern last weekend for their first meet. They performed very well, ending the day with 8 top ten finishes in two age categories and including two 3rd place finishes by Jasmijn J and Zachary B.
Some other highlights of the Autumn Sports season so far have been a 2-1 victory for the JV boys' Soccer team over a strong ZIS team; the MS girls' B-Soccer team with a tight 2-1 win over ISZL, and the MS tennis team with a convincing victory over Basel in their first match.
Our strong ICS MS Tennis team will take on ZIS today, Thursday, at Milandia, and the MS boys' and girls' Soccer teams compete against ZIS today as well. Friday and the coming weekend will be very busy, with many clusters taking place for the soccer and volleyball teams around Zurich and Zug.
The highlight of this weekend is the SGIS Cross-Country Championships which ICS will be hosting on campus and in the fields surrounding the golf course. The first race (Primary) will start at 11:30 and the last race (HS) starts at 14:45 .
The 2017 autumn season is off to a great start for all our ICS athletes, and we look forward to welcoming a good turnout from the ICS community to cheer for and support our runners this coming weekend at the SGIS Cross Country event.
