Following successful fall and winter seasons, our ICS teams and athletes have achieved excellent results as the short and intense spring sports season continues.
Spring sports teams are now half way through the season at ICS and our teams have been busy with competitions and training for up-coming tournaments.
The MS boys' and girls' volleyball teams have had an incredibly strong season so far, remaining undefeated in their friendly matches against Basel and ISZL with convincing victories over both schools. Buzzing in orange and black, our Middle School Girls and Boys dominated the Volleyball court with the ICS MS Girls' A and B teams beating ISZL in straight sets 4-0 and the MS boys, in a more competitive match, winning 3-2. The energy and passion of our students, Vickie, Frances, Matt and Mark is great to see and we congratulate them! Both the girls' A + B teams ended up in 2nd place at the ISSL cluster tournament hosted by TASIS in Lugano and are prepared to keep up their strong play in the upcoming SGIS and SCIS tournaments.
Bringing home three top three finishes and a strong showing all around, our MS Track and Field team had their ISSL meet in Basel before the Easter break. At the SGIS MS Championships held in Geneva last weekend they performed very well, bringing home 7 top three finishes and 20 top five finishes! The Category D team ranked 4th place overall out of 12 teams at a very competitive meet. The HS team travels across the lake this weekend for the SGIS HS Championships, and will travel to Zug for the SCIS Championships the following weekend.
Despite a few rainouts, the girls' softball teams have been practicing hard and both the HS and MS teams are preparing for games coming up this week.
The ICS Tennis Team played against ISZL in a friendly match and had a strong showing, winning most of the matches with ease. Our tennis players are now preparing for the SCIS Championships hosted by ICS at the Stork Tennis Centre in Oetwil am See on Friday and Saturday 12 and 13 May.
Well done to all our spring teams and coaches and good luck to the ICS Tigers in all the season's final tournaments over the next few weeks.
