From 11 – 13 January the ICS Ski Team took part in the Volkl International Schools Ski Cup 2018 in Engelberg. It was the very first ski racing event for several members of our team, and they did a fantastic job of representing ICS on the slopes, with several skiers posting "personal bests"!
Almudena M (Category C Girls) qualified for the semi-finals in the Parallel Slalom on Friday with a time of 21:68, eventually tying for a third place finish in the event. In addition, she went on to finish 2nd in the GS/Slalom combined event on Saturday with a time of 2:08:89, which earned her a place on the podium and a second place finish overall at the end of the two-day competition.
After finishing 8th on Friday in the Parallel Slalom with a time of 22:65 ,Valdemar Z (Category C Boys) just missed the podium on Saturday with a 4th place combined time of 2:08:48 in the GS/Slalom.
Numerous other ICS skiers posted very good times and placed in the Top 5 or Top 10 in their respective categories in the Parallel Slalom on Friday: Cat D Girls - Imogen D 5th (24:52); Cat D Boys Otto J, 5th (25:80); Cat C Girls - Linnea V, 8th (23:39); Cat B Girls - Loretta S, 10th (24:07); Cat B Boys Leo Niemi, 10th (23:01).
In the GS/Slalom Combi on Saturday: Cat D Girls - Alix M, 5th (2:21:48); Cat D Boys - Otto J, 5th (2:18:48); Cat B Girls - Loretta S, 8th (2:27:56) and in Cat C Boys - Tom D, 10th (2:19:06).
We congratulate the ICS Ski Team on their excellent results in Engelberg, where they came in 4th overall as a team, and we wish them all the best at the upcoming SGIS Junior Championships in Gstaad.
