ICS musicians pursued their passion for music-making over the weekend by attending the Association of Music in International Schools (AMIS) Solo and Ensemble Festival at The American School of The Hague, one of several AMIS music festivals that ICS students have the opportunity to attend each year.
During the festival, which was attended by over 200 students from nine international schools all over Europe, ICS students presented solo items on violin, saxophone, trombone, guitar, piano and drums, as well as performing in either the 'violin group' or 'jazz combo' ensemble categories. All of the performers -- whether debuting or experienced -- benefited from these valuable opportunities to further their performing experience.
For ICS students, highlights of the festival included: "The performance experience and feedback to improve my technique" -- Eshaan K.; "Meeting talented people and watching and hearing different instruments" -- Nathan M.; and "Meeting new people with the same passion [for music]" -- Meltem G.
Clearly reflected in their quotes, all of our ICS student musicians valued the oral and written feedback they received on their performances. They had the opportunity to watch and listen to student performers from other schools and learned valuable musical skills at specialist master classes. As the festival came to an end, all the ICS students also enjoyed the 'honour' performances at the closing ceremony.
