The road has diverged over the past six months, and I extend my gratitude to the entire community for their patience as we have worked towards this week.
The first and second stages of the Building Project, are designed to set the groundwork for the future, while enabling us to upgrade the facilities accordingly.
The road plays an integral part in this future, as the school works to become a sanctuary for meaningful learning, a green space for collaboration and gathering, and a campus that intentionally keeps its small footprint within the village of Zumikon.
The road will be redesigned over the summer to allow for greater use of the campus space at what is presently the entry to the campus, and to increase the flow of traffic in a more controlled way.
The Pavilion continues to work hard, now housing the Grade 11 students whilst our Grade 12s complete their examination, in the first week of June, this will then become the learning space of the Main Campus students, those in Grades 6 to 9, as the Grade 11s move back to the DSC.
The Main Campus will transform in the first week of June, as the scaffolding arrives, the cranes go up, and we prepare to build The Extension – our bespoke Creative Arts Centre and Study Hall.
We have worked hard to minimise the level of disruption, and in so doing remain committed to keeping the students excited about all that is transpiring in their school. Perhaps we are most excited about the Middle School Playground, which has been designed for, and with, the students in Grades 5 to 7, and which will open access to the Research Garden while allowing for table tennis, climbing, swinging, talking and generally being a teenager. This will be constructed over the summer break.
As always, our Project Manager, Hester Dekker is available to answer any questions you may have, and we are deeply grateful for the contribution she has made to our story to date.
We are so excited to share more of this with you all in the coming weeks, and so ready to begin this next stage of our building project.
