What is Student Life.

We can see Student Life on our football fields and volleyball courts as students encourage, support, and cheer for each other. We discover it inside our Research Garden, as students collaborate in caring for the plant boxes. We witness it in the preparation for the Lego League, as the participants work together to creatively solve problems. And we hear it in the sounds from the Treffpunkt, as patient and determined students practice their music.

"Student Life is what makes our school and each of our students thrive.

In this week’s Spotlight, we look at some of the activities and sports that allow students to explore their passions, develop new talents, and cultivate a sense of identity beyond the classroom.

ICS Extra-curricular Activities encompass a wide range of interests, from Music and Art to an array of clubs and organisations for all interests and causes. From Cool Chemistry experiments to the Lego League Challenge, to Creativity and Arts - there is something to spark the interest and passion of each individual student.

Students have the opportunity to participate in shows through the ICS Performing Arts, and this year we will be producing two different musicals. Rehearsals are already in full swing for our Secondary school’s January 2024 performance of Footloose The Musical. For our younger learners, Grades 4 and 5 will perform an ICS student-written musical production entitled The Forest Gang while Grades 2 and 3 are involved in perform-a-play, where students rehearse for and perform short plays based on children's books. We are looking forward to watching the multi-talented students onstage.

Service as Action can act as a bridge between the academic realm and the real world, showing students how their knowledge can be used to make a positive impact. A wonderful example of this can be seen in our Round Square Action groups, where students are planning and leading how they can address the different areas of the Round Square ideals. These service opportunities broaden students’ perspectives and allow them to gain valuable experiences, develop leadership skills, and often discover career paths they are passionate about.

ICS Primary and Secondary students have the opportunity to participate in different sports year-round through our ICS Athletics programme. Students and coaches work together to bring the world of sport alive both on and off the field. ICS athletes compete in local and international competitions throughout the year. They are passionate about their sport and flourish in the team building and camaraderie that comes along with working towards a common goal. Through sports they also create friendships that can last a lifetime. Sports events are truly an integral part of campus life at ICS and a chance for all students and families to come together and celebrate our athletes' achievements.

The future of Student Life at ICS is exciting, and we continue to build new ways for students as they embark on this transformative journey. We look forward to sharing more opportunities for our students to thrive beyond the classroom.
