Music at ICS is a vibrant part of school life, offering students opportunities to develop their skills, creativity, and confidence. Through ensembles, performances, and individual lessons, we inspire a love for music and foster lifelong engagement with the arts.

Music in and Beyond ICS

We offer many opportunities for students across the school to pursue their passion for music, both inside and outside ICS. Alongside class lessons, we offer many extra-curricular opportunities for students to take part in ensemble music-making.

Ensembles and Clubs

Primary Music Clubs

Primary students have a variety of opportunities to engage with music outside the classroom:

  • ICS Singers (Grades 1–5 Choir): Performances include the Primary Winter Concert, the Parents’ Association Christmas Market, and Zurich’s iconic Singing Christmas Tree.
  • Primary Assembly Band: Open to instrumentalists of all levels, this group performs at school events.
     

Senior Music Ensembles

Senior students can join a wide range of music groups to further their skills and collaborate with peers:

  • ICS String Orchestra
  • ICS Stage Band
  • Rock Bands

National and International Music Opportunities

As a member of the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS), ICS students have the chance to participate in prestigious music festivals. These include:

Voice & Instrument Lessons

Alongside the extra-curricular ensembles at ICS, students may also wish to take individual instrument lessons.

Voice & Instrument Programme (VIP)

ICS hosts private music teachers offering after-school lessons in instruments such as piano, voice, violin, viola, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, and drums.

Zumikon Musikschule

ICS collaborates with the Zumikon Musikschule, which provides private lessons on a wide range of instruments, often in English. This partnership offers ICS students access to high-quality instruction at affordable rates.
