SENIOR SCHOOL

Setting the Course

In Senior School, ICS students begin to set the course for their personal and professional futures. Building on the self-knowledge and personal efficacy gained in Primary and Middle School, they dive deep into personal passions, develop subject-area expertise, and begin the journey towards life beyond our walls.

Why Does This Division Exist?

Senior School is comprised of grades 9-12 and encompasses the final years of the Middle Years Programme (MYP) as well as the two IB Diploma years. As young adults, Senior Schoolers are beginning to make more and more choices on their own.

They are mastering the cognitive and social-emotional skills necessary for success both in and outside the classroom. Our programme is characterised by its uncompromising emphasis on academic excellence and well-being.

Gabriel Di Mauro

Senior School Principal

Mr Gabriel Di Mauro serves as Senior School Principal at ICS, bringing dedicated leadership and a strong commitment to the growth and wellbeing of our Senior School community:

We strive to model the very qualities we seek to cultivate in our learners by providing learning environments where everyone belongs, everyone is challenged, and everyone is encouraged to develop their personal potential to the highest level.
Gone are the days when rote memorisation and traditional learning models sufficed as preparation for future success. To be clear, traditional learning models still have their place. And yet, if we hope to prepare young people for an ever-evolving, complex world, so much more is required. We must attend to their social, emotional, cognitive, and identity-development needs.

We must provide genuine opportunities for students to take hold of their learning, develop their voice, and discover their true abilities. This takes commitment and courage on the part of all stakeholders in the learning community. The more we partner together for the betterment of learning, the more our learners benefit.

What Makes Our Senior School Different?

Student voice drives decision-making in the Senior School. Grade Level Leaders work closely with students to develop relevant, authentic Personal Development Programme learning experiences and regularly seek feedback for improvement. Students know they can speak directly with their Tutors, their Grade Level Leaders, as well as with School Executives to make their needs known. They are our most essential partners in the learning process.

Our commitment to service and experiential learning is in the very DNA of the Senior School. Each year, our Grade 10 students are invited to participate in The Saathi Project, which is our long-standing partnership with a school in Nepal. Teachers and students volunteer their time to learn alongside their Nepalese counterparts and engage in both cultural and intellectual exchange.

Additionally, our outstanding Community Engagement and CAS programme offers myriad opportunities for our students to serve local and global communities. Experiential learning opportunities are abundant, with our yearly June trips, focus days, Round Square Exchanges, and Personal Development Experiences in sharp focus each year.
