Highlighting their creative talents, the IB Diploma Visual Art Exhibition 2018 showcased a remarkable array of the students' innovative artwork.
From 19 to 22 March, classmates, ICS staff and the ICS community were once again invited to attend the annual installation of the Diploma students' two and three dimensional pieces.
Next to their paintings, sculptures and installations, each of the exhibitors provided brief, written descriptions of their work. Their texts included background information about the ideas, emotions and reflections that inspired the students' very personal and individual artistic inquiries.
One student wrote, "I am a third culture kid, a citizen of everywhere and nowhere." Some of the topics her classmates explored were, in their own words: "the spirituality behind nature"; "the complexity and fragmentation of a family"; "artwork commemorating members of the 27 Club of musical artists that passed at 27 years of age"; or "the lost jacket - a vintage item that infers that past lessons have not been learned."
Each one of the students' pieces, whether they were meant to be amusing, critical or satirical, provided viewers with recurring, thought-provoking experiences. We thank our Diploma Visual Art students for sharing their exceptional thoughts and talents with us and sincerely congratulate them for a job well done!
