By purchasing a "Halbtax" card, SBB's half-fare travel card, you can travel for half price on all routes. If you have children under the age of 16, consider purchasing a juniorkarte travelcard which enables your children up to the age of 16 to travel accompanied by their parents at no cost anywhere in Switzerland.
Driving in Switzerland
Your foreign driving license is valid in Switzerland for a period of one year from the date on which you arrived in Switzerland. With your first year of residency, you must obtain a Swiss license. If you do not obtain your license within the first year, you will be required to sit for the Swiss driver's exam. In order to obtain a Swiss license you will need to get in touch with the Strassenverkehrsamt (website is only in German).
