Family Transitions
Welcoming New Families
ICS helps families turn the challenge of settling in into the beginning of a thriving new chapter.

Welcoming New Students
Starting at a new school can feel both exciting and a little uncertain. It is natural for students and families to wonder how they will find their way around, make new friends, and settle into their new learning environment. At ICS, we are committed to making every new student feel welcomed, supported, and part of our community from the very beginning.
As an international school, we also welcome new students throughout the academic year. Families may be relocating from around the world or joining us locally from here in Zurich. Our transition programme is designed to ensure that every new student, no matter when they join, experiences the same warm welcome, care, and support as those starting on the first day of the school year.
New Students’ Orientation Day
Each August and January, before the school year begins, we host a New Students’ Orientation Day. We warmly encourage all new ICS families to attend.
This special day gives students the opportunity to explore the school, meet their teachers and fellow classmates, and take part in fun activities. It is also a wonderful chance for families to get to know our community, meeting staff members, connecting with other families, and learning more about the school.
Parents and guardians are very welcome to join. It is a great opportunity to ask questions, meet other ICS families, and connect with our Parents’ Association.
The date for Orientation Day is published in our School Calendar.

Buddies & Ambassadors
At ICS, we want every new student to feel comfortable and supported. One of the ways we do this is through our Student Buddy and Ambassador programmes.
In the Primary School, Student Buddies help welcome new students and guide them through their first days. In the Middle and Senior School, Student Ambassadors volunteer to support newcomers, helping them find their way around, meet new friends, and feel at home in our community.
