Supporting Children to Exceed Expectations

In a nurturing and challenging environment found nowhere else, we empower students to become self-directed, life-long inquirers.

ICS is a leading private, non-profit, co-educational international day-school for students aged 3 to 19. Our single campus, situated in the picturesque village of Zumikon, is just 15 minutes by direct public transport from the centre of Zurich.

Our teaching language is English and our students also learn German, the language of our host country.

As an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, we are the only school in Zurich offering all three programmes of the world renowned IB Organisation: the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes.

The moment we walked into the building there was such a warm and caring atmosphere and a very strong sense of community. Once we had visited ICS, we didn't see any need to visit other schools.

Empowered to Learn

ICS recognises that a rigorous 21st century curriculum encourages and engages students, while developing critical-thinking skills. In a nurturing and challenging environment found nowhere else, we empower students to become self-directed, lifelong inquirers who understand that learning happens everywhere.

Prepared to Succeed

ICS graduates qualify for university with the prestigious International Baccalaureate Diploma or Bilingual IB Diploma, plus the ICS Secondary Graduation Diploma. The IB is a well-known programme in international education and is highly regarded by universities throughout the world.

Globally Recognized

Part of the IB’s reliability emerges from the rigorous accreditation, IBO, CIS and NEASC schools must undertake before offering the programme. This ensures that the educational standards of all IB schools are both exceptional and globally uniform. ICS, as an IB Plus school, exceeds these standards.

Future Ready

Students learn at ICS the extensive core knowledge expected by universities and the workforce. In addition, our teaching practises help them become resilient and reflective risk-takers. These qualities prepare students to be principled leaders who will flourish as global citizens in an uncertain world.

Admissions - Primary, Middle and Diploma Studies

Our multilingual (German, Swiss German, English and French) Admissions team, Ms Annina Caveng and Ms Danielle Lapidoth, warmly invite you to visit us. They will be pleased to arrange a personal tour of the ICS campus for your family and answer any questions you might have about our school.

Admissions - Preschool/Kindergarten

Families who would like to find out more about the preschool/kindergarten programme (for ages 3 to 6) are invited to come and meet the Early Years Coordinator. She will be pleased to join you for a tour of the Early Years Centre, introduce you to the preschool teachers and discuss your child’s needs.

Alternative Learning Pathways

We recognise the diversity in children’s learning styles and offer different types of learning support to help students reach their full potential. We bring out each student’s strengths and talents and ensure that students with learning challenges are fully participating members of the school community. We offer a number of services and resources to support their access to the curriculum.

For children with more complex needs, ICS has established a partnership with Foundations for Learning. This collaboration offers a highly specialised programme where a child’s academic needs are met by Foundations for Learning whilst the student is still a member of the Inter-Community School. For more information please visit the Foundations for Learning website.

Parent Perspectives

I like the fact that the teachers know the kids. The teachers make an effort to get to know their students as people. Teachers are involved in extra curricular activities and that transcends into the classroom.

International Baccalaureate (IB)

The IB is a global organization specializing in international education and is an integral part of a global community of schools and educators.

ICS fosters such a great learning environment for its children. Both my teachers as well as my sister's current teachers continuously show such engagement and enthusiasm for students. Universities should look at the ICS template and learn things from it about education. Would be honoured to send my kids here one day!
