NURSERY

Our pedagogical approach

ICS Nursery provides a learning environment that offers an exceptional opportunity to build foundational skills. We create independent, competent, confident, and caring young learners.

Nursery is comprised of our youngest learners, ages 18 months to 3 years

We seek to nurture, integrate, and respect children so they may become healthy and happy individuals. Using elements of the Reggio Emilia approach and IB PYP curriculums, we develop a learning environment suitable to the child's needs and cognitive abilities. We respect every child's cultural and social background, encouraging multicultural integration and caring.

Development of young minds

We focus on nurturing the child's growth so that they become a healthy person who is able to take care of themselves, be empathetic, and think constructively. Teachers take a holistic pedagogical approach to enrich the child’s learning process, allowing for both child-led and teacher-structured activities to take place within the classroom. We encourage parent participation and community integration whenever possible.

Principles for pedagogical action

The ICS Nursery places emphasis on both emotional and intellectual areas of development. Every child has different circumstances that must include the process of collaborative support from both the family and teacher in order to achieve personal well-being and academic success.

Activities with the children

We offer an appropriate foundation in academic subjects including Maths, Science, Reading and Writing, Creative Thinking, Arts, Independent well-being, Technology, and Sports. Children at an ICS Nursery Level are supported in all areas and monitored on their achievement by developmental milestones. Children build the foundations for the Pre-Kindergarten curriculum through play and relationship building.

English and German Languages

English and German languages are used throughout the day to support learning. Excursions into our local community provide children with opportunities to use the German language connected to their learning at school. We also help and encourage students to maintain and develop their mother tongue, as this is important for their cultural identity and cognitive development. We recognise that having home language skills also helps students in learning additional languages.
