We are back and ready to learn! ICS teachers greeted new and returning students on campus this week as the 2020-21 school year began!
Parents of Primary and Secondary students new to ICS were invited to participate in the 2020-2021 ICS Virtual New Family Orientation Morning at 9:15 and 9:30 respectively on Monday 17 August. Following a welcome from the Chair of the ICS Board of Trustees, Mr Premchand, and the Head of School, Mrs Mary Lyn Campbell, the Primary and Secondary Leadership Teams provided parents with important and relevant information. Subsequently, parents were able to select and join virtual meetings to meet teachers and specialists and find out more about ICS programmes and school services.
On the same day, observing the safety precautions in place at ICS, our new Secondary students arrived on the main campus in the morning. They met their classroom teachers and Secondary counsellors and were supported by ICS Secondary student ambassadors who were on hand to answer any questions the new students might have.
On Monday afternoon our new Primary students came to the ICS campus with their parents. Visiting on a staggered schedule, Kindergarten, Pre-School and Primary families were guided to their children’s classroom where they were warmly welcomed by their teachers.
The following day, a bright and sunny 18 August, marked the first official day of classes at ICS. It was a day filled with excitement that finally brought the familiar and much-missed sound of students chatting, laughing and sharing stories with their classmates back to our campus. Secondary and Primary welcome back assemblies are scheduled to take place during this first week of school as well.
ICS continues to make every effort we can to closely monitor the general health of the ICS community. Established precautionary hygiene and safety measures, such as washing hands, the wearing of masks on campus and temperature checking stations, are in place and being carefully maintained. In addition, reinforcing our commitment to protect the safety and well-being of our families in these unusual times, our school’s protection policy includes asking all visitors to our campus to complete the ICS Visitor Declaration form.
We would once again like to thank all our families for their ongoing support and feedback in these exceptional times. We sincerely wish all our students an excellent start to a new school year at ICS that is filled with meaningful and authentic learning experiences in a safe, secure and engaging learning environment.
