Take a peek inside our new Nursery, a welcoming place for the youngest members of the ICS family.
As the 2020-2021 school year begins at ICS, children from 18 months to 3 years are being welcomed to our new Nursery facilities in the Primary building.
The new ICS Nursery is now open from Monday to Friday. Nursery children will begin their familiarisation period during the morning free-play activities in the presence of their parents or guardian and as they gradually become acquainted with their environment and the Nursery team, the integration process will move forward and be gradually extended until the child ready to attend a full nursery session. Nursery staff will collaborate with families to determine the optimal “settling in time” for each individual child.
With well-balanced indoor and outdoor activities that the children participate in each day, the ICS Nursery is a safe and welcoming place where children can share learning experiences and develop in a caring and supportive environment. In addition, a carefully planned routine schedule for the children provides them a balance of structured activities, rest time and quiet play. Parents can drop off their children between 8:00 and 8:30 daily and pick them up between 16:00 and 17:00.
Teachers in the Nursery take a holistic pedagogical approach to enrich the child’s learning process, and both child-lead and teacher-structured activities take place within the classroom. The classroom teachers in the Nursery play a pastoral as well as an educational role and our behaviour guidelines ask students to have respect for themselves and for others.
Children at the Nursery stage will be learning groundwork for Pre-K education through play and relationship building with the Nursery team focusing on nurturing a confident child who is ready to learn, grow and integrate into society.
