The new sports year at ICS is off to an excellent start with our Middle School Basketball teams bringing home their first medals.
Our Middle School (MS) Boys basketball team qualified for the semifinals of the SGIS championships in Geneva recently, after winning three of their four pool matches. They defeated Nations school in a close game in the semi-final match, winning by 2 points before losing the final to the host school. ICS took second place, a great achievement, with ICS player Xavier A selected for the All-Star team.
The Middle School Girls Basketball A team had a successful weekend in the SGIS tournament in Geneva as well. Finishing first in their group after three solid wins, the girls lost only one, very tight game in the semi-finals. Following the final game, the girls' A team won a well-deserved third place. Our 10 players were top-level athletes, showing pride for their squad, bringing home medals, and exhibiting fantastic team spirit and sportsmanship!
On Saturday 18 January the HS Badminton Team hosted their annual invitational tournament with ZIS & TASIS. Overall ICS was very strong in both the Boys' & Girls' categories, and the day included several personal bests.
Our Middle School and High School Ski Teams will be on the move this coming weekend in the Bernese Oberland of central Switzerland for the European International Schools Ski Race (EISSR). We wish them the best of luck on the slopes!
ISSL basketball tournaments and SGIS basketball championships at home and away are on the ICS sports agenda starting in February, and HS and MS Swim Championships will be coming up in February as well. We invite everyone from the school community to come out whenever you can to support and cheer for our ICS sports teams! Go Tigers!
