The ICS Grade 8 Round Square (RS) Action Group invites the ICS Community to participate in a 11,394 km virtual Sparkle Run to Malawi.
The Sparkle Run initiative will involve ICS students, parents and staff in a virtual run to cover the 11, 394 km distance from Zumikon to Zomba in Malawi.
Starting on March 8th, participants are being asked to do any type of exercise such as walking, running, swimming, cycling, rowing, walking the dog, etc. and use an app or take a screen shot of their smart phones, fit bits or fitness apps, to verify the distance they have covered.
Over the course of the event, participants’ recorded distances will be collected regularly by Grade 8 and Grade 11 Round Square students and added to the overall distance, as our community walks, runs, rows, swims or cycles towards reaching our goal and virtually arriving in Zomba, Malawi.
An entry fee of 5 CHF will register participants to take part in the Sparkle Run and contribute to making a difference for Sparkle Malawi, a charity which has been supported by ICS through student-led initiatives such as the annual Colour Run and, most recently, the 2021 Knit-a-thon. Round Square students will also be placing donation boxes around the school to collect additional contributions, with all donations going directly to Sparkle Malawi.
Parents who wish to participate should email one of our Grade 11 organising students, Talita at firstname.lastname@example.org. Students will receive a link to enter via ManageBac and ICS Staff will email or reply to the email sent by Mr McHarg and Edward McG-B.
Starting on March 8th participants will begin documenting the distances they have achieved and send in their results to the allocated Round Square students. The ICS Grade 8 Round Square organisers thank you for your support: Let’s Run as One - and see you in Malawi!
