On Tuesday, we welcomed Andrew Matthews, the Round Square Director of Europe and the Mediterranean, to the ICS campus.
Our Round Square coordinator, ICS staff and students warmly welcomed the newly appointed Round Square Schools’ Support Director as he toured our campus yesterday. ICS is proud to be the only Round Square school in Zurich and part of an internationally diverse network that collaborates to offer world-class programmes and experiences that develop students’ global competence, character and confidence.
Round Square schools promote six IDEALS of global citizenship: International Understanding, Democracy, Environmental Awareness, Adventure, Leadership and Service, and like their counterparts around the globe, Round Square students at ICS are committed to making a positive difference in the world within communities that thrive, prosper and cooperate with each other.
From 20 to 24 May, the final Action and Spirit Days of the school year focus on the idea of ‘giving’ time and presence and demonstrating kindness to others, in addition to contributing material items. Around ICS, student action groups from Round Square, Primary Student Council and Grade 5 Exhibition groups are involved in a variety of projects and Grade 5 Round Square students will be collecting clothing, household utensils, bed sheets and towels, toys and complete puzzle and board game sets for refugees living in Switzerland. The items can be deposited in crates located by the Primary Library in the Main building.
