Our Grade 5 students invited the entire Community to attend the Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition at ICS.
Last night, Grade 5 parents attended the PYP Exhibition and today, Primary classes, teachers and the ICS community were invited to visit. The Grade 5 “Who we are” students set up their exhibits in the Gym while the “Sharing the Planet, How the World Works, and How We Organise Ourselves” student exhibitors were located in the Dance Studio and the Academy Foyer.
The Primary Years Programme (PYP) Exhibition represents a significant event in the life of PYP students, enabling them to demonstrate the attributes of the International Baccalaureate (IB) learner profile that they have developed throughout their engagement with the PYP. Using visual art, music, dance, drama or other forms of art, such as creative writing and photography, the Grade 5 students demonstrate an in-depth understanding of their personal inquiry.
Grade 5 students select local issues and make use of a wide variety of resources to help with their investigations. The PYP Exhibition also gives students the opportunity to present orally and answer any questions visitors may have. The students’ process journals – documentations of their work - are on display throughout the exhibition and reveal a great deal about the learning, the rigour and the creative processes that go hand-in-hand with meeting the challenges of the PYP Exhibition.
Our Grade 5 students have come to understand the responsibilities associated with being internationally minded: They have researched their issues thoroughly, thought about possible action they could take to further their causes, and have demonstrated, in an impressive manner, how the knowledge they have gained contributes to creating a better and more peaceful world.
