It’s 2019, January 7 is here, and we can feel the excitement and expectation as we reconnect with each other following the holiday break!
Welcome back everyone! In addition to catching up with each other and returning to shared learning experiences in the classroom, here’s a preview of some of the things going at ICS as the New Year gets underway:
Calling all knitters! In support of Sparkle Malawi, Grade 8 Round Square and Service Learning and Community Engagement (SLCE) will once again host a Knit-a-thon and are asking knitters to drop by the Secondary Library any time after school on Friday 11 January. For more information please see the Bulletin.
The second ArtsAlive! of the school year is scheduled for Friday 1 February at 15:45 and Primary and Secondary students, parents and teachers are invited to sign-up to perform by 11 January latest. Help us celebrate the diverse artistic community at ICS and check the Bulletin for details and sign-up information.
The Performing Arts department BITE (Baccalaureate International Theatre Experience) Show 2019 will be happening next week in the Black Box from Wednesday 16 - Friday 18 January, from 19:00 – 19:45. In addition to a selection of Grade 10 devised performances, ICS Grade 12 Theatre Diploma students will perform their final exam piece. Showcasing their learning and exploration of theatre, these BITE performances are entirely created and produced by the students themselves.
Reaching out to interested families, our Early Years Centre (EYC) will be holding an Open House on Wednesday 23 January from 09:15-11:15. The EYC Open House welcomes parents of children aged 3 to 5 who would like to find out more about the programmes and learning offered by the ICS Early Years Centre.
And finally, Grade 11 Visual Art students invite you to the Ruegg Art Annex to take a peek at their ‘PIP’ Exhibition (Art Portfolios in Progress) on Wednesday 23 January from 15:30 – 17:30 and Thursday 24 January during Periods 1 and 2.
As we settle into the first month of the New Year, we look forward to the learning as well as the many events and activities that keep our community connected.
