Grade 5SH student Coco B’s poster was chosen as the winning entry in this year’s Primary Library Poster Competition.
ICS Primary and Secondary libraries host many exciting and fun events throughout the school year. In response to one activity connected with International School Library month, our Primary students brought their creativity and imagination to paper to show why their school library is important to them and create a poster with the theme “Why I Love My School Library”.
This annual library challenge has always enjoyed an excellent response from student artists across the Primary school and this year was no exception. The students used the medium of their choice and a large number of posters were submitted in time to meet the deadline at the end of October. The entries were then judged in a preliminary round by a teacher-panel of “Library Experts”, and a group of Primary Round Square students chose the winner from the top three posters designs.
Coco’s winning poster shows a heart in the centre depicting some of the reasons why she “loves her library” and two additional hearts with illustrated cartoon characters from books Coco has read and enjoyed.
Everyone who entered the poster competition was presented with a new book from the recent Primary Book Fair. In addition, Coco received a voucher from a bookstore to purchase books of her choice. Coco’s original poster is now displayed in the Primary Library and will also be used as the Primary Library Logo for the rest of the 2018-2019 school year.
Congratulations to Coco and to all the students who participated in this year’s Primary Library poster competition.
