ICS Celebrates 60 Years of Excellence in Education
In 2020, our celebratory 60th year, ICS reaffirms its commitment to providing the members of our community with a learning environment in which they can achieve their potential, pursue their passions, and fulfil their responsibilities.
When it was founded in 1960, ICS started with 80 students and 10 nationalities. Today, in 2020, we are an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, educating children from the ages of 18 months in our full-programme Nursery to 18 years in our Diploma Studies Centre. Preschool and Kindergarten Programme
The Preschool and Kindergarten curriculum at ICS, based on the IB's Primary Years Programme (PYP), is designed to inspire and encourage inquisitive 3-5 year olds in inquire, explore, discover, reflect and succeed as problem solvers. And, the heart of this outstanding programme is its ability to instil a lifetime love of learning! Learn more about our Preschool and Kindergarten Programme.
ICS Primary Years Programme (PYP)
Our Primary School offers each child a rigorous and innovative learning experience relevant to the challenges of our quickly changing world. Students future-proof their skills by becoming self-directed, resilient, life-long learners.
Preparing Primary students for the future demands more than simple knowledge. Students will need the flexibility and agility to apply knowledge to unfamiliar and complex situations in the real-world. They will need to develop higher order thinking skills in order to be ahead of the curve.
ICS Middle School Programme (MYP)
Middle School at ICS comprises Grades 6–10. Our team of teachers and specialists are dedicated to each child, starting with immense support on the transition to Grade 6 from Primary School. Students learn with and from children from different countries in a highly caring community. Teachers collaborate to create a supportive, enabling and engaging learning environment. And we offer learning opportunities and experiences both within and beyond our academic programme.
ICS Diploma Years Programme (DP)
In Grades 11 and 12, ICS offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Students can enrol in and complete the Programme either at full Diploma or individual Courses level. Our teachers and career counsellors ensure that each student is ready for the next steps in university and career.
Culture of Care
Embracing our diverse student population, with programmes to support and enhance that diversity, we ensure the full engagement of ICS students with local and global issues. We promote the principles of understanding and respect between individuals, communities, cultures and nations at ICS, and those principles are clearly reflected in our relationship with our Swiss host community.
Mastering challenges during the Global Pandemic
As we commemorate the anniversary of 60 years of excellence in education at ICS, we continue to encourage our students' understanding that using knowledge in real-life contexts builds character, empathy and resilience. Applying the skills they have acquired through the rigorous ICS curriculum, we are confident that our students are prepared to accept and successfully master the challenges that await them in our quickly changing world.
During the global pandemic, our community responded by thriving during Learning@Home. Through the coming decade we will strive to stay at the forefront of educational innovation. We will remain focused on learning and growing, caring for others, and engaging with our communities. We welcome all who wish to undertake this ambitious journey together.
ICS 60 Years Anniversary
For our 60th anniversary, we created a giant-sized photo timeline. Positioned so parents could enjoy it from the car park, the display featured representative photos and illustrations of our community's six decades. The slideshow shows a sample of this well-received visual.
60th Anniversary Party
LET’S TWIST AGAIN! ICS Celebrates Our “Throwback to the 60s”!
On Friday 18 September students and staff went all out, letting their hair down and participating in an enormously successful “Throwback to the 60s” on campus celebration of the September 1960 founding of ICS.
The ICS Main campus and the outdoor areas surrounding the DSC came alive with the sounds of a 60s music revival, accompanied by plenty of 2020 laughter! A joyous panorama of colourful and imaginatively-dressed Primary and Secondary students danced to the music of the era as a DJ worked his 60s musical magic during break and lunch times at the Main Campus, DSC venues and the sports field.
Photo booths with colourful 60s backdrop banners were positioned around the campus and students and teachers were encouraged to step up and have their pictures taken.
