At ICS we take our students' safety very seriously.
We keep our emergency procedures under constant review. There are copies of our Emergency Procedures flip-book in many places around the campus, so that it is immediately to hand if needed. And we have a number of channels of communication that we can use in an emergency.
- An emergency SMS (text messaging) system to contact all parents. This is how we would communicate if we unexpectedly had to open the school late or shut it early - for example, in the event of an exceptionally heavy snow fall. We test our emergency SMS system every year, and regularly remind parents to check and update the contact details that we hold for them.
- The emergency SMS (text) messages are also backed up by an email to all parents.
- We would also use alerts - like the one below - on our website to give updates in the event of an emergency on our campus.
- And we would additionally use our social media channels - including our Facebook page and Twitter account.
We hope we never need to use our emergency communications procedures. But we are well prepared to do so, should the need arise.
