The Parents' Association organises many events and activities throughout the school year.
This family event in late October is for Primary students (though many Secondary students come along and help to run it). Children and parents dress up, trick or treat and enjoy food, games and even a Haunted House. The Halloween Party 2017 is scheduled for 28 October, on the school premises. See the pictures below of last year's Halloween Party.
The Winter Market takes place in the Zumikon Gemeindesaal (Town Hall). The next Market takes place on 6 December 2017. This event is an opportunity for parents to meet up with friends, shop for gifts for the Christmas season, enjoy refreshments and musical performances by students. There will also be Nepalese Scholarship Fundraising Christmas Lunch on 12 December 2017.
This event at the end of the school year is a celebration of the many different cultures and nationalities within the ICS community. It includes a parade where children can wear their country's national dress, foods from around the world, entertainment by students, and fun and games for all. See the photos from the June 2017 International Festival here.
The 2018 International Festival will be held on Saturday 26 May.
The PA organizes a monthly opportunity for parents to meet with the Head of School, Primary and Secondary Principals. These meetings may be in the form of a presentation, Q&A session or workshop and are a great opportunity for parents to learn more about what is happening at school.
All PA members meet together four times per year to hear from a guest speaker (typically a member of the school staff) and discuss upcoming events – all parents invited.
Twice a year, in the autumn and spring, the PA runs a Book Fair. These fairs offer both parents and children the opportunity to purchase English-language books (fiction and non-fiction).
From time to time, the PA brings in guest speakers who are experts on specific topics of interest. Previous topics have included internet safety & digital citizenship, language learning and sex education for children.
There are more than 30 different clubs for parents to join, based on their interests! Parents meet together regularly, and anyone is welcome to join. Ideas for new clubs are always welcome. The PA also keeps a list of parent-recommended classes in the community for both children and adults.
