Our IB Diploma Visual Art students put their work on display in the DSC Garage Gallery, showing pieces that reflected their individual thematic inquiries. The results were amazing! Not only was their art beautiful to look at, their pieces were also innovative, thought-provoking or satirical. Each of the students posted brief written "summaries" of their work, providing background information and describing the thoughts that inspired and motivated their creations:
Losing Puzzle Pieces "...this illustrates the point of view of the "victim" of Alzheimer's disease and how they are losing thoughts and memories, in other words, puzzle pieces", one student wrote.
Cultural and National Identity "...the painting depicts the natural beauty of Annapurna and dress of the Tamang ethnic people of this region..."
Four Generations "...I wanted to take the opportunity to create a photo series that shows the four generations in my family...it is an interactive piece inviting the viewer to open up the book and read and look at what is inside."
Doors to the art gallery opened at opened at 17:30, with viewing until 20:00. At 19:00, a short concert featuring Grade 11 IB Diploma Music soloists and the Grade 11 Vocal Quartet was also held in the Primary Hall.
Congratulations and well done to all our IB student artists and musicians for sharing their exceptional talents on Thursday evening with a very appreciative ICS community.
