The Inter-Community School Zurich

The Inter-Community School Zurich (ICS) is a private, co-educational day school on the outskirts of Zurich. We provide a world-class international education to students aged from 3 to 19.

Our language of instruction is English and all students also learn German, the language of our host country. We also support students with limited English through our 'English as an Additional Language' programme. Currently 842 students from 48 countries are studying at ICS. Our modern, purpose-built campus is easily accessible by public transport and is just 15 minutes from Stadelhofen station and the centre of Zurich.

International Baccalaureate

ICS is the only school in Zurich to be fully authorised by the International Baccalaureate Organisation to offer all three programmes of the International Baccalaureate.  Younger students follow the IB Primary Years Programme; middle school students follow the Middle Years Programme; and from 16-18 years of age, students follow the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.

In both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years, the IB Diploma pass rate at ICS was 94 per cent and the mean average score was 34 points. The charts here show both the world average score in each subject course offered at Diploma level, and the ICS three-year rolling average score. (In each of the six subjects they take, Diploma candidates can score up to a maximum of 7 points.) In the vast majority of cases ICS scores exceed world averages, sometimes by a very significant margin. This is particuarly impressive when you consider that ICS is an open-access, non-selective school which welcomes students with a range of ability and backgrounds in the different disciplines.

Opportunities

The academic programme is supplemented by an ambitious range of opportunities to participate in the arts and athletics, and on expeditions. The school has a non-selective admissions policy, and has extensive programmes of Learning Support and English as an Additional Language.
