The ICS Board of Trustees

ICS is a non-profit Foundation ("Stiftung für die Inter-Community School”). It is governed by a Board of Trustees as a non-sectarian, politically neutral school which provides an education that promotes learning, cultural and international understanding and respect for all nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the governance of the school and for the setting of policies and procedures pertaining to the school.

Members of the ICS Board of Trustees

ICS was established as a non-profit Foundation in 1968. Since then, the Board of Trustees has governed the school in accordance with its bylaws (which concern the organisation, administration and activities of the school) and Swiss law. The Board appoints a Head of School as chief executive officer to carry out the educational and administrative functions of the school. The Head of School is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school, while the Board is responsible for the setting and amending of various policies and procedures pertaining to the school. The duration of the ‘Stiftung’ is perpetual. Board members are elected to a three-year term of service and may then stand for additional terms. It is interesting to note that with the sole exception of Dr. von Graffenried, every Board member is a past or present parent or student at the Inter-Community School.
